Welcome Baby Peyton!

Baby Peyton has finally made her arrival! First, I will start with the wonderful labor story. Tuesday, March 9th was the first day I had spent alone since the galbladder problems. When I woke up that morning, I was having mild contractions. Of course, with the first baby, it is hard to tell a contraction from a braxton hicks. They started around 6 that morning, and slowly got closer together. I was a little nervous since I was so far away from anyone who could take me to the hospital. Kaleb offered to work from home, but I told him not to that I could have contractions for days before real labor began. My pastor, Billy told me if I needed a ride to give him a call and he could drop me off with Kaleb.

Well I spent most of the morning on the phone with Abbey asking if it sounded like contractions or not. The dr. had already told me when they got 10 minutes apart I needed to head to the hospital since I lived so far away. Well, they got to be 6-8 minutes apart, and I still was doubtful. Then, I got a wonderful confirmation at 10 am. I was fixing a glass of water and my water broke! I called Kaleb and was so excited, then I called Billy. Yes, my pastor had to drive me with my water broke. Talk about embarassing :/ The whole way to the hospital I ate corn chex and drank water because I knew they wouldn't let me eat once I got there.

My dr. asks that you go to the office before L and D so we did. By the time we were in the office my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart. I thought I was going to have the baby in the office! I did not know contractions could stay that close together for a long time.

The dr. checked me and informed me I was only 1 cm dialted and my pain level was about a 3 at the time. I was so nervous when he told me that! By about 3:00 I got to 4 centimeters and the contractions were HORRIBLE! I got the epidural immediately. Little did I know the pain was so bad because I was dialted 8 centimeters by the time the epidural was in. I went from 4 cm to 8 cm in 10 minutes! I was also plus 1. By 6:00 I was plus 2 and ready to push. After two hours of pushing, me and Peyton were both exhausted. They hooked me up to oxygen and we were still struggling. The dr. decided to use forceps to help out. After two pushed with forceps Peyton made her arrival at 8:07 pm! She weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. I knew we thought she would be beautiful since she is ours, but she is absolutely breathtaking!

Peyton is such a happy baby. She was smiling from the day she was born and hasn't stopped. We are constantly getting compliments on how sweet she is. The only thing that makes her cry is the nasal aspirator, which I can't blame her. She gets it put in her nose every couple of hours.

The first week and a half has been a bumpy but wonderful experience. We started our at home experience with feeding issues and we have been working our way through them. Peyton has also been battling a horrible cold. She has been to the dr. twice and the er once. Her congestion is so bad that she has had a hard time breathing. Hopefully, the cold will be over soon!

She has already started having her own mannerisms. Whenever she has to poop, her little face gets all red and she brings her knees to her chest. I don't think a grown man could pass gas as loud as she does! Also, right before she begins to cry she says "Ah-hu" over and over. When she sleeps, she makes a very serious face followed by a huge gummy smile. She repeats that over and over.

She has slept pretty good the last two nights, so hopefully we are on a good sleeping trend! She has already brought so much joy to our hearts. I never knew how much love I could have for her, but it is true. There is a special love you have for your child.

We have also been blessed with so much help. Every day, someonebrings us food, watches her while we sleep, or helps us around the house. Her Nana, DD, Paw-Paw, church friends, and so many others have done so much for us. It has made everything so much easier for us three.

Well, I guess that is all I can say about our beautiful girl right now. We are looking forward to every day and moment that lies ahead!
